Students are required to select a relevant topic related to Statistics and prepare a Seminar Synopsis. The selected topic along with the synopsis must be submitted to Ms. P. S. Salunkhe Madam on or before 9th September 2026.

B. Sc. I Quiz

The Department of Statistics conducted a Quiz for B.Sc. I students as a part of the Continuous Internal Evaluation (CIE) and Internal Assessment.

The Quiz covered the following papers:

• Paper I – Descriptive Statistics-I

• Paper II – Elementary Probability Theory

The Quiz consisted of 20 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), with 10 questions from each paper. The questions were designed to assess students’ conceptual understanding of important topics from Descriptive Statistics and Elementary Probability Theory.

राष्ट्रीय सांख्यिकी कार्यालयाची ऑगस्ट 2026 मधील सर्वेक्षण मोहीम

“विश्वसनीय माहितीवर आधारित निर्णय म्हणजेच प्रभावी विकासाचे आधारस्तंभ.”

आजच्या डेटा-आधारित युगात सांख्यिकीचे महत्त्व दिवसेंदिवस वाढत आहे. शासनाच्या विविध योजना, आर्थिक धोरणे, सामाजिक विकास कार्यक्रम आणि जनकल्याणकारी उपक्रम यांचे नियोजन करण्यासाठी अचूक आणि विश्वासार्ह सांख्यिकीय माहिती आवश्यक असते. याच उद्देशाने भारत सरकारच्या सांख्यिकी आणि कार्यक्रम अंमलबजावणी मंत्रालयाच्या (MoSPI) अंतर्गत कार्यरत राष्ट्रीय सांख्यिकी कार्यालय (NSO) देशभर विविध सांख्यिकीय सर्वेक्षणे आणि माहिती संकलनाचे कार्य करते. ऑगस्ट 2026 मध्ये NSO ने राष्ट्रीय स्तरावरील सर्वेक्षणांसाठी विशेष माहिती संकलन मोहीम राबविण्याचे आवाहन केले आहे.

🔹 NSO म्हणजे काय?

राष्ट्रीय सांख्यिकी कार्यालय हे भारतातील अधिकृत सांख्यिकीय माहिती संकलन आणि निर्मितीच्या महत्त्वाच्या संस्थांपैकी एक आहे. NSO कडून घरगुती तसेच विविध आस्थापनांकडून माहिती संकलित केली जाते. ही माहिती देशाच्या तसेच राज्यांच्या नियोजनासाठी आणि धोरणनिर्मितीसाठी वापरली जाते.

🔹 सर्वेक्षणातून माहिती कशी मिळते?

सांख्यिकीय सर्वेक्षणामध्ये संपूर्ण लोकसंख्या किंवा सर्व आस्थापनांकडून माहिती गोळा करणे अनेक वेळा शक्य नसते. त्यामुळे नमुना निवड (Sampling) या सांख्यिकीय पद्धतीचा वापर केला जातो. निवडलेल्या नमुन्यातील कुटुंबे किंवा आस्थापनांकडून माहिती गोळा करून त्यावर सांख्यिकीय विश्लेषण केले जाते. त्यातून संपूर्ण लोकसंख्येबाबत निष्कर्ष काढण्यास मदत होते. यामुळे Statistics विषयातील Population, Sample, Sampling Techniques, Data Collection, Estimation आणि Statistical Inference या संकल्पनांचा प्रत्यक्ष जीवनाशी संबंध स्पष्ट होतो. 

🔹 Statistics विद्यार्थ्यांसाठी याचे महत्त्व

Statistics शिकताना आपण Mean, Median, Standard Deviation, Correlation, Regression, Sampling आणि Hypothesis Testing यांसारख्या संकल्पना अभ्यासतो. परंतु या संकल्पनांचा उपयोग केवळ परीक्षेपुरता मर्यादित नसतो.

उदाहरणार्थ:

Sampling चा वापर मोठ्या लोकसंख्येतून प्रतिनिधिक नमुना निवडण्यासाठी केला जातो.

Descriptive Statistics च्या साहाय्याने संकलित माहितीचे संक्षिप्त स्वरूपात सादरीकरण करता येते.

Estimation द्वारे लोकसंख्येच्या अज्ञात घटकांचे अंदाज घेता येतात.

Correlation आणि Regression च्या साहाय्याने विविध घटकांमधील संबंधांचा अभ्यास करता येतो.

Data Visualization द्वारे मोठ्या प्रमाणातील माहिती सोप्या पद्धतीने समजावून सांगता येते.

🔹 ‘Quality Statistics’ चे वाढते महत्त्व

ऑगस्ट 2026 मध्ये भारताच्या अध्यक्षतेखाली Lucknow येथे BRICS देशांच्या National Statistical Offices च्या प्रमुखांची बैठक आयोजित करण्यात आली. या बैठकीची मध्यवर्ती संकल्पना “Quality Statistics as a Driver of Change” अशी होती. या बैठकीमध्ये सांख्यिकीय प्रणालीतील नवकल्पना, माहितीची गुणवत्ता, माहितीचे प्रभावी प्रसारण आणि आधुनिक डेटा प्रणाली यावर भर देण्यात आला. यावरून आजच्या काळात “Data” पेक्षा “Quality Data” अधिक महत्त्वाचे आहे, हे स्पष्ट होते.

🔹 Statistics आणि Technology

आधुनिक काळात सांख्यिकी आणि तंत्रज्ञान यांचा जवळचा संबंध निर्माण झाला आहे. Digital Data Collection, Online Databases, Interactive Dashboards, Artificial Intelligence आणि Machine Learning यामुळे सांख्यिकीय माहितीचे संकलन, प्रक्रिया आणि विश्लेषण अधिक प्रभावी होत आहे. MoSPI च्या विविध उपक्रमांमध्ये डिजिटल प्लॅटफॉर्म आणि आधुनिक डेटा प्रणालींचा वापर वाढत आहे. त्यामुळे भविष्यातील Statistics विद्यार्थ्यांसाठी Statistical Methods सोबत Data Science, R, Python, Excel आणि अन्य आधुनिक तंत्रज्ञानाचे ज्ञान उपयुक्त ठरणार आहे. 

🔹 Statistics म्हणजे केवळ आकडे नव्हेत!

सांख्यिकी म्हणजे केवळ आकडे मोजणे किंवा सरासरी काढणे नाही. योग्य पद्धतीने माहिती गोळा करणे, तिचे वर्गीकरण व विश्लेषण करणे, त्यातून अर्थपूर्ण निष्कर्ष काढणे आणि त्या निष्कर्षांच्या आधारे योग्य निर्णय घेणे ही सांख्यिकीची व्यापक भूमिका आहे.

“Good decisions need good data, and good data needs good statistics.”

🔹 निष्कर्ष

राष्ट्रीय विकास, आर्थिक नियोजन आणि सामाजिक कल्याणासाठी अधिकृत सांख्यिकीय माहिती अत्यंत महत्त्वाची आहे. NSO सारख्या संस्थांकडून राबविण्यात येणारी सर्वेक्षणे देशातील विविध सामाजिक आणि आर्थिक घटकांचे वास्तव समजून घेण्यासाठी महत्त्वाची भूमिका बजावतात. Statistics विषयाच्या विद्यार्थ्यांनी अशा चालू घडामोडींकडे केवळ बातमी म्हणून न पाहता त्यामागील Sampling, Data Collection, Statistical Analysis आणि Evidence-Based Decision Making या सांख्यिकीय संकल्पना समजून घेणे आवश्यक आहे. 

आजचा विद्यार्थी म्हणजे उद्याचा Data Analyst, Researcher आणि Statistical Decision Maker!

B.Sc.II Minor Group Discussion

The Department of Statistics is organizing a Group Discussion for B.Sc. II Semester III (NEP 2.0) – Minor Statistics students as a part of the Continuous Internal Evaluation (CIE).

Topic for Group Discussion: “Applications of Association, Correlation and Probability Distributions in Real-Life Situations.”

The discussion will focus on the practical applications of the concepts covered in Paper V – Association and Correlation Analysis and Paper VI – Elementary Probability Distributions
